Matt Oram

Matt is a general manager at a large metal fabrication factory, and in his spare time is a retained firefighter. With a background in the theatre industry and many professional tours and large scale productions under his belt, Matt has a passion for theatre and in his spare spare time he runs a small sound and lighting company in St Neots, 1one0. Matt and his team have provided their services for societies, dance/theatre schools, and events such as St Neots Players, VAMPS, Melodramatics, SJ School of Dance, and Kimbolton School Fireworks.

Matt designed and built the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang replica for the production of the same name in 2023. Along with his team at 1one0, Matt built both the replica car herself and the apparatus used to enable her to fly. This is just one of many large scale projects Matt and his team have undertaken for St Neots based Amateur Dramatics, with an automated sliding set flats for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (2023), the entire metal based set for Return to the Forbidden Planet (2019), a motorised revolving stage for Pocket Productions Owl and the Pussycat (2023), and a large metal portal and proscenium arch initially created for St Neots Players panto Sleeping Beauty (2021) which has since been used by both VAMPS and St Neots Players. He also created numerous other props and set pieces for the panto, including a device dubbed the “poop cannon” which was used in a rather explosive nappy changing scene, and a large metallic throne which was nicknamed Sgt. Bash – due to the theatrical flame jet that was in the initial plans but ultimately cut.
