Keith Jenkinson

Keith is a software developer by day, but after work he loves to make music. He can pick a few tunes on the guitar and started to learn the piano in 2014 (it’s hard work!).

His love of music and in particular his love of Jesus Christ Superstar, alongside his wife seeing an advertisement in a village magazine and convincing him to audition, led him to get involved with the 2005 VAMPS production, in which he played a terrified Simon. He didn’t intend to do any further shows when he started, but he had become hooked. He has appeared in a number of shows since his 2005 debut including 2 separate productions of The Full Monty (2006, 2016), Tommy (2014), Avenue Q (2018), and Our House (2022), and including two award winning performances in Showstoppers V (2008) for which he won the Amy Gonzales Award for his performance of Mr Cellophane, and Best Supporting Actor for his role of Teen Angel in Grease (2014). Keith has also performed with other societies including Pocket Productions, St Neots Players and the Old Time Musical Society.

After the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (2023) auditions, Keith was extremely surprised to be offered the part of Caractacus Potts (Played by Dick Van Dyke in the 1960s film). At the audition he said that he was willing to take any part (aside from the child catcher), but was trying for the part of Grandpa (Played by Lionel Jeffries in the film). He said “I saw myself as more of a Lionel character, but the audition panel saw me as more of a Dick!”

Outside of work and music, Keith is keen on DIY and sport (taking part rather than watching).
